We call this project the Golden Gardener because our client's last name is Golden and she just happens to be a fabulous gardner! Our Golden Gardener loves to be outside, planting, watering and mowing! A few impulse buys and sentimental plant material brought from other sites led to a bit of confusion in the garden. She needed fresh eyes on the project and called us for help. The crew spent a full day on the property, moving things around and pruning. We then added more plant material in places that made sense.
We felt that the front of the house looked too flat, so we added little cheek walls in our signature mix of cobble and bluestone. Night lighting hidden in the walls pool the walkway. A sculptural dwarf dogwood sits inside the left wall and the right wall holds a gorgeous twist and shout hydrangea.
The original walkway had been poorly installed and did not complement the home. We replaced it with thermal bluestone in a bold pattern. We reused the original bluestone in other areas on the property.
The original builder had used bricks on the stair's rise. We replaced it with hand cut bluestone pieces to give the home a more modern look.
We cut the original walkway into small pieces to create a path through the garden. It easier to create flow and structure when working with a pathway.
It's alway special to work with a client who loves the garden as much as we do. We know we are leaving this revitalized landscape in excellent hands, or rather, Golden gardening gloves!
